i'm honestly beginning to think that a large number of the current crop of readers on social media have never read for fun & are only doing it now because it's trendy, and they don't actually like it very much because they're not the central character.

this is SO much hotter than that guy who makes out with food. competence and cheese and fun are all very attractive!!! it doesn't hurt that he's conventionally attractive, but this would still be more appealing to *me* than the buff guy who molests bread dough if this guy looked like jabba the hutt.

It's more important to read contemporary books that teach you to empathize with real people (you encounter/affect through your actions) than to read the Classics (because we decided that was necessary to be a well-rounded person). And I say this as someone who has a degree in English lit.
