So incredibly thankful for the sweet and courteous parents.

I have to think this rant through, but reading is so fundamental to every other skill, and the US education system is still messing it up. For basic reading, we’re teaching them to look at context clues or skip over words they don’t know, so to not get bogged down in the slowness of reading.

Here’s the thing. Parents / society see school as a box to check off so their kids can get to a good university and get a job where their kid earns a gazillion dollars. They have completely lost sight of the value of the skills and knowledge taught in k-12.
