An illustrative metric. I had lunch this week with a friend in the airline industry. He’d checked United’s 8 flights a day from the UK to the USA. Normally, he sees 40-100 open seats/day. The last couple of weeks it’s never been lower than 800-1200. The world is voting with its feet and wallet

Why is there “illegal immigration”? Because we abolished all routes by which refugees could legitimately apply to come to the UK. Where there’s war, ethnic cleansing, environmental & economic collapse, of course there will be refugees, and it is our moral and statutory duty to provide for them.
